Biennales in 2010
De Ateliers announces the participation of some of its former participants in biennales worldwide. Thomas Houseago is included in the Whitney Biennial, New York (till May 30), Asier Mendizabal shows work in the Bucharest Biennial (til July 27) and Vincent Vulsma participates in the Berlin Biennale 6 (til August 8).

Wim Izaks Prijs 2010
Two former residents of De Ateliers have been nominated for the Wim izaks Prijs 2010, Lieven Hendriks and Ina van Zyl. Their work is on show in an exhibition of the three nominees in Pictura, Dordrecht (Sep 17-Oct17) and Tricot, Winterswijk (Oct 30- Jan 16). The winner will be announced on September 17.
 
‘Wild at Heart’
At Art Amsterdam, De Ateliers curated an exhibition with works of four ex-participants, Yesim Akdeniz Graf, Keren Cytter, Melissa Gordon and Gary Ward. This richly illustrated exhibition catalogue contains portraits of the artists by ex-participant Gayatri Subramanian and essays by Mieke Bal, Dominic van den Boogerd, Marlene Dumas, Beatrix Ruf and Christiane Schneider. Blue Tuesdays - forty years De Ateliers
In Blue Tuesdays. De Ateliers 1963-2003, a book on the history of De Ateliers, arthistorian Bert Jansen (critic for Het Financieel Dagblad) describes how this artists' initiative in Haarlem during the turbulent sixties became a well known institute that changed the face of art education in Holland. The book also includes the personal memories of dozens of ex-participants from the last four decades as well as contributions by teaching artists Marijke van Warmerdam and Marlene Dumas and an index off all participants and tutors. The book is bilingual (Dutch/English), 112 pages, with some sixty reproductions in black & white.
